Terms of Service

Effective July 16, 2026 · Rootegra LLC

These are the terms for using Rootegra. We've written them to be read, not skimmed past — they're short for what they cover, and they say what we actually do.

01The agreement

Rootegra is operated by Rootegra LLC, a Hawaii limited liability company ("Rootegra," "we"). By creating an account or using the Rootegra websites or app (the "service"), you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you set up a salon on Rootegra, you're agreeing on behalf of that salon and confirming you have the authority to do so.

02The service, and its early access

Rootegra is a platform for salons: appointment scheduling and checkout, client records and care, payments, team hours, and apprentice education.

Rootegra is in an early-access period. Paid subscriptions, where they apply, will be announced to account holders before they take effect, and no salon will be moved to a paid plan without clear advance notice and the chance to export its data and leave instead.

Early access also means the honest version: features will change, occasional bugs will surface, and we may add, alter, or remove functionality as we learn. We work carefully — salons run their businesses on this — but the service is provided as a work in progress.

03Accounts and roles

Keep your account information accurate and your credentials to yourself; you're responsible for activity under your login. One Rootegra account can hold several roles — owner, stylist, educator, apprentice, client — and each role sees only what that role should. You must be at least 18 to create a salon, and at least 13 to hold any account.

04Payments

Payments on Rootegra are processed by Stripe through Stripe Connect. The salon is the merchant of record for its clients' payments: money a client pays for services settles to the salon's own Stripe account. Rootegra is not a party to the transaction between a salon and its client, and is not a bank, money transmitter, or payment processor.

  • Salons must complete Stripe's onboarding and comply with Stripe's terms.
  • Salons set their own prices and are responsible for their own refunds, disputes, and taxes.
  • Stripe's standard processing fees apply to card payments and are paid to Stripe.

05Your clients' data

Salons put their clients' information into Rootegra — records, photos, phone numbers. When you do, you're confirming that you have the right to: the client's consent for photos, the client's agreement to receive appointment texts and emails, and a lawful basis for the records you keep. Rootegra stores and processes that information on the salon's behalf, as described in the Privacy Policy, and honors every STOP request on text messages automatically.

06The curriculum

The educational content in Rootegra — the Root Integrity Collective curriculum, including its modules, text, illustrations, and practice activities — is owned by Rootegra LLC and its licensors. It is licensed to enrolled apprentices and their salons for personal study and in-salon training only. It may not be copied, redistributed, resold, republished, or used to build competing material. The license ends when the enrollment or account ends.

A plain statement about what the curriculum is: Rootegra's curriculum is professional study material offered through salons. It is not a state licensing program, it does not grant any license, certification, or government-recognized credential, and completing modules does not by itself satisfy any state's requirements to practice cosmetology. Hour logs in Rootegra are records kept by your salon; the salon and apprentice remain responsible for whatever their state's licensing process requires.

07Acceptable use

Use Rootegra to run a salon, not to cause harm. Specifically, don't:

  • Send marketing texts or emails through Rootegra to people who haven't agreed to receive them, or any unlawful or deceptive messages.
  • Access records that aren't yours, probe or overload the service, or attempt to defeat its access controls.
  • Upload content that is unlawful or that you don't have the right to upload — including other people's photos without consent.
  • Resell or white-label access to the service without a written agreement with us.

08Your content, our software

What you and your salon put into Rootegra stays yours. You give us the limited license needed to store, process, back up, and display it in order to run the service — nothing more. The Rootegra software, design, and brand remain ours.

09Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free — and in an early-access period, some interruptions are likely. Nothing in the service is legal, tax, financial, or medical advice.

10Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Rootegra LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data. Our total liability for all claims arising out of the service is capped at the greater of the amount your salon paid us in the twelve months before the claim or one hundred U.S. dollars. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limits; where that's you, these limits apply to the extent permitted.

11Indemnity

If a third party brings a claim against us because of how your salon used the service — for example, messages sent without consent, or photos stored without permission — you agree to defend us against that claim and cover the resulting costs.

12Leaving, and being asked to leave

You can stop using Rootegra and delete your account at any time, in the app or by writing to [email protected] — and you can ask us for an export of your salon's data first. We can suspend or close accounts that violate these terms, and we'll tell you why unless the law prevents it. Sections 6 and 8–14 survive the end of the agreement.

13Changes to these terms

When we change these terms in a meaningful way, we'll update the effective date above and notify account holders by email or in the app before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that is acceptance of the new terms.

14Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Hawaii and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Hawaii, and both sides consent to that venue.
